What are the terms of the agreement?
Barkley signed a one-season loan deal, with no formal option to buy.
Villa will decide at the end of the campaign to bid for Barkley and turn the move into a permanent move.
Will he go directly into the starting XI?
Yes. The regular playing time offer helped convince Barkley to join us.
He has only made two replacement appearances in Chelsea’s first three Premier League games.
Barkley scored an impressive goal in his only start, a 6-0 victory over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, but failed to come to an agreement as Chelsea lost to Tottenham on penalties on Tuesday night.
Villa believes he is a player who can take the club forward and help strengthen a midfielder who, while already very stacked in numbers, also lacks real depth if one of Douglas Luiz’s regulars, John McGinn or Conor Hourihane became unavailable.
That said, Barkley is now expected to become an immediate part of the starting XI.
What other belongings are left at Villa?
Villa is still hoping to sign another striker before the window closes.
Ideally, they would be looking to secure another loan deal, having already spent £ 45million on Ollie Watkins and Bertrand Traore.
